Robert George Murduck
Photograph No. 0025
Two Unidentified Young Girls
This pair of photos show the same in-studio props - a white painted bench with a bouquet of flowers on the padded seat. Both show the later embossed 'MURDUCK-PHOTO-EXMOUTH' attribution. They were probably taken at the same time.
Nothing was written on the back of these photos which might indicate who the subjects were, and when they might have been taken. Both of these photos were reputed to have been pasted in to an album (along with Murduck Photo No. 0026 and Murduck Photo No. 0027) prior to removal and purchase by auction early in 2011.
The two girls - one shorter and presumably younger, and one taller and presumably older, both have similar dresses. And both have chain necklaces with a cross at the base, suggesting that they were Roman Catholics. These two may have been sisters.
Thanks are expressed to Ian Wright of Exmouth for sending superb scans of these photos in 2011.
