Robert George Murduck
Photograph No. 0023
Trinity Church, Exmouth
The interior, after remodelling in 1905-1907
This is an example of a lithographed image postcard based on an original photograph. The reverse side of this postcard, as provided to me by Ian Wright of Exmouth in 2009, shows that it was not postally used. It shows the typical 'manuscript style' of subject naming on the front, lower left corner. The back side shows the typical green serifed lettering indicating that it was 'Published by R. G. Murduck, photographer, Exmouth'. Also on the back side, just right of the postage stamp block, is a small notation which indicates that this card was 'Printed in Saxony'.
Holy Trinity Church was built in Exmouth in 1825, by John Rolle, the 1st Baron Rolle. The structure underwent a significant and major rebuild between 1905 and 1907, which was overseen by the 1st Baron's nephew, the Honourable Mark Rolle [Mark George Kerr Trefusis].
