Photograph No. 0022

The Esplanade, Exmouth

A Real Photo Postcard with Another view

Murduck Photo No. 0022 - The Esplanade, Exmouth - view No. 02Murduck Photo No. 0022 - The Esplanade, Exmouth - view No. 02

This postcard - apparently sent through the postal mail system in 1912, shows another view of The Esplanade in Exmouth, Devonshire. The Clock Tower is located just off-image at the centre right, suggesting that this photograph was taken just a short distance south-west of another view of the same place, found on postcards used in 1917 & 1918 - see <murduck-photo-no-0003-the-esplanade-exmouth-view-no-01>.

This photograph also appears to be from the Edwardian period, as judged by the women's clothing and hat styles. Perhaps the later Edwardian period, though, based on the men's hat styles.

R G Murduck's stock postcard attribution 'MURDUCK PHOTO' can be seen on the bottom, near the right hand side, while the subject is detailed on the left.

The original postcard image is badly faded on the left side, yet seems to be in reasonably good condition on the right side.

The original postcard was offered for sale (auction) by <neil510> on ebay on 24 March 2023, at a starting bid of £2.00.
